Boko haram members on Monday invaded the kogi prison along lokoja-Abuja express road freeing 143 suspects in the process. It'll be recalled that the 80 year old prison sometimes in 2012 came under the attack of boko haram members. An improvised explosive device was used to blow-up the prison entry's iron bar around 10pm leaving a male prison officer and an inmate injured while another inmate was found dead after the attackers had left.
The federal government of Nigeria in swift reaction through the minister of interior, Abba Moro has ordered the contractor handling the koton-karfe medium prison to complete the facility in two weeks or risks termination of contract. He stated while taking journalists round the medium prison under construction that when completed in two weeks' time, the prison will be more effective in housing criminals."
