A glorious debut year crowned by 'La Décima': Real Madrid 500 days under Ancelotti today

Carlo Ancelotti's 500th day in charge at Real Madrid comes plop in the middle of some of his finest hours at the club so far. After restoring peace at the Bernabéu, the Italian guided 'Los Blancos' to 'La Décima' and has the side playing some truly wonderful stuff.

The former PSG, Chelsea and Milan boss knew what the score was when he signed on the dotted line and uttered a sentence during his unveiling that immediately ingratiated himself to the 'Merengues' fans: "The challenge is very clear: the most prestigious club in the world has to win by playing spectacular football".
Despite finding the goalposts shifted and having players sold from under him on several occasions, Ancelotti has always risen to the occasion and found a winning formula.
From coming up with a way to combine Gareth Bale and Ángel di María to rejigging the side once Xabi Alonso recovered from injury, Ancelotti has proven time and time again that he can adjust his plans to the circumstances. This season's big change has involved converting Isco and James to narrow wide roles and getting them to work their socks off defensively.
An attractive style of play has been present pretty much throughout Ancelotti's reign, reaching a pinnacle with the recent 'Clásico', which left the Bernabéu crowd chanting 'olé' repeatedly. And, as is often the case, good football has led to trophies, most notably the longed-for 'Décima', which capped an impeccable European campaign. And, from the looks of things, this was just the start of a golden period under the much-revered Italian.
Wishing Carlo better days ahead.
